The Rockmore is the first and as fare as we know still the only permanently moored lunch and dinner barge not attached to land in the United States. If you would love to take a Minnie vacation come on down. We offer a summer fair of burgers and sandwiches on an outdoor deck in the middle of Salem harbor. There is a full bar as well. Kids and adults love to see the "wiled fish show". Schools of striped bass hang around looking for your French fries.
Launches board from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm daily
You can take a free boat ride out to the Rockmore from the public dock at the Congress Street Bridge in Salem or from the Village Street Landing at the end of Village Street in Marblehead. The boats (launches) run continuously from Congress Street (every 20 minutes) and are on call at Village Street. On the left side of the Village Street pier as you are walking down is a radio call box, just use the microphone to call the launch.
FYI
In the years past there has been some confusion of when the kitchen closes. The last launch going out is at 9:00 pm. As long as you are in the launch at 9:00pm you will have time to go out and order your meal. The kitchen doesn't close until the last order is in.
Last season when opening the USCG decided (after eighteen years) that we should re-blue print our cooking system and send it to Washington for approval. As you can imagine nothing happens that fast so we did not have fried food. For 2009 we have sent our blue prints to Washington and anticipate fried food coming back. Keep your fingers crossed!
